A day to forget as men are outplayed by Edinburgh

From an early season full of optimism, Dundee’s men now face a battle against relegation after a disappointing 3/0 home defeat to a young City of Edinburgh ll side.  The visitors opened up a 16/7 lead in the opening set with a series of adventurous plays that set the tone for the day.  Edinburgh scored points from serve, block, counter attack and Dundee had little in reply.  The Edinburgh serve forced the home side in slow, high attacks which were easily dealt with.  The home side only scored 9 points through Rad Marinov, Boris Prodanov and Colin Mcevoy as they lost the set 14/25.  The second set was eventually closer after another big lead for Edinburgh at 12/6. The Dundee attack hauled them closer at 13/16 with the visitors at last under pressure and forced into untidy play.  Colin Mcevoy and Jamie Salvin both scored points as the scores narrowed to 18/19.  The visitors scored a point to win back the service and then scored 4 points without reply to have set point at 24/18.  Salvin and Prodanov both hit winners before Edinburgh took the set 25/20.

The third set was a disaster as the visitors ramped up the pressure and targeted Dundee’s outside hitters.  The score went from 4/5 to 6/18 in double quick time with 13 points given to Edinburgh in errors.  The set and game went soon after with the visitors winning 25/14.  This defeat leaves Dundee in second bottom spot with only 3 games to go before the play-offs.
