It was Scottish Cup round 2 on Saturday in Craigie High School as both Dundee sides worked hard for victory.  The men hosted NUVOC ll from Edinburgh and the young visitors tried valiantly to compete but they were short of power and control.  The opening set was dominated by teenager Boris Prodanov, who was outstanding on the left side of the court.  His height and power helped him score 7 points in attack and another 3 from his service.  The home side cruised to a 25/19 win giving up 10 points in errors!  A run of 7 points from the Lewis Crockart service had the NUVOC youngsters in disarray as they struggle to mount an effective attack.  Colin McEvoy scored 2 big his as Dundee took a 12/4 lead.  Points from Dave Bonnar and Prodanov took the score to16/7.  The home side did not score another point as they were gifted 5 points in service and hitting errors.  Dundee led 21/14 and 2 points each from Prodanov and McEvoy gave Dundee the set 25/17 and a 2/0 lead.

A change of line-up from Coach John Scrimgeour brought Craig Goldthorpe and Rad Marinov into the game.  The changes disrupted the momentum for the home side and they fell behind 3/8 and were still in arrears at 9/12.  Goldthorpe and Mark Donnachie scored with some smart hitting and Rad Marinov weighed in with service points to move the home side into a 21/15 lead.  Three serve errors and tow hitting mistakes gave NUVOC a slim lifeline but it was taken away with big hits from Dave Bonnar and Mark Donnachie to win the set 25/20 and the game 3/0.
