First win for new setter Dave Bonnar

National League volleyball was back on the menu last Saturday with both Dundee sides travelling west to Lenzie for League 1 games.  The men started very well and opened up a 15/4 lead with scores from Mike Coward, Rad Marinov and 3 score blocks from Aus Dowie.  The visitors pressed on and had a lead at 22/9.  Lenzie clawed back 4 points but Dundee took the set 25/13.  The second set was riddled with errors but the home side scored 6 points to lead 19/13.  Scores from Marinov and Coward were not enough to stop Lenzie taking the set 25/18.

In set 3 it was all Dundee again as they strolled comfortably to lead 14/5 including 4 points from Dave Bonnar’s service.  There was little reply from Lenzie and Dundee took the set 25/11.  Scores from Lewis Crockart and debutant, James McNeill, kept Dundee close to the home side and the scores were tied at 19/19.  A Marinov service ‘ace’ and a big score net block gave Dundee the edge and they took the set 25/20 and the game 3 sets to 1.
