Ragazzi again? Close Game again!

Dundee’s ladies’ team returned to National League business last Saturday with a long trip to Ayr for two games in League 1.  Su Ragazzi II provided the opposition in their first game and immediately took a 6/3 lead, with 3 points scored from heavy serves from the Lanarkshire team.  Dundee were struggling to put points on the board with meaningful attacks but the Ragazzi side were having a similar problem as Dundee scored points through unforced errors.  Dundee’s main scorers were Agnes Bednarek and Natalia Stopowska, but they came up short and Ragazzi took the set 25/19.

The second set started well with Stopowska and Clair Pollock both scoring points to stay close to the Su side at 10/13.  A run of points without reply took the score to 19/10 for Ragazzi.  Dundee managed to score through Pollock and Bednarek but the Ragazzi side kept the pressure on to win the set 25/15.  Lucy Wishart started the third set with 2 points and then Lana Edgar and Natalia Stopowska helped to take the score to 16/11 in their favour.  Dundee’s points then dried up as Ragazzi closed the gap to level at 18/18.  Both sides traded points but at 23/23 a side out point and an error by Dundee’s attack gave the set and game to Ragazzi 25/23.
