Both Dundee teams had triangular fixtures last weekend in League 1 of the National Leagues.  The ladies made their debut in the new Menzieshill Community Hub taking on two teams from City of Edinburgh.  The opening set against Edinburgh lll was proving difficult as the ‘home’ side had difficulty with the new surroundings and found themselves 12/20 down.  A run of 4 points from Lucy Wishart’s service pulled them closer then scores from Laura Ward and a net block from Lana Edgar brought them within one point at 22/23.  A hitting error gave the young Edinburgh side set point but Hannah lawrie rescued the team with 2 scores before an Edinburgh mistake gave Dundee he set 25/23.

A run of 10 points at the start of the set from Hanna Lawrie’s service caused enough damage for Dundee to take the set 25/16. The early part of the third set was point ofr point but from 11/11 scores from Agnes Bednarek and Laura Ward took the Dundee side to 23/14 before Lawrie again won the last point for a 25/16 win to complete a 3 set to 0 win.

Edinburgh ll proved a more difficult obstacle but again Hannah Lawrie opened up with a run of 10 points from her service.  The lead was too much for the visitors to break down and Dundee won the set 25/16.  The Edinburgh side then used the height of hitter Jessica Gillies to win the next 2 sets 25/12 and 25/20.  Neither side cold open up a gap in the fourth set with scores from Lawrie and Ward giving Dundee a 22/17 lead.  Edinburgh came back to level at 22/22 but 2 points from Lucy Wishart and then a service ‘ace’ gave Dundee the set 25/23.  Edinburgh were not to be denied and they took the deciding set 15/7 to maintain their position at the top of the table.
