Girls lose out in 5 set thriller

The ladies took on Su Ragazzi ll in their League 1 match and served up a 5 set thriller!  Natalia Stopowska was in top form in the opening set scoring 6 points as the Dundee side piled on the pressure to the tall Glasgow team.   Clair Pollock and debutant Carol Lane weighed in with big scores to hold set point at 24/22.  Stopowska was again the scorer as she hit a big winner to win the set 25/22.  Ragazzi stormed back in the second set and scored 9 points from the service line and another 8 in counter attack to grab the second set 25/10.

Dundee were not out of the game as they pushed back and went toe-to-toe, with both sides scoring point for point.  Stopowska and Agnes Bednarek were the main scores as Dundee pushed to take the set.  Ragazzi had set point at 24/21, Dundee scored well and they had set point at 25/24, Ragazzi had it again at 27/26, Dundee levelled at 27/27, but a quick hit from the tall Ragazzi attack gave them the set 29/27!

The Dundee response was impressive as they took an 8/3 lead in the fourth set.  Ragazzi came back to lead 10/8 but the Dundee side stormed through the rest of the set with runs of points from Stopowska and Sacha Tissot in her first game for the Club.  Dundee took the set 25/15 to set up a final tie break set.  After a promising start it was the Ragazzi service that final won the game.  They scored 7 points from the service as the Dundee girls struggled with the weight of the serve and lost out 6/15.
