Hanna Lawrie returns in battle with sister

Dundee Ladies welcomed Hannah Lawrie back to their side against her former side Glasgow International after a year working in Glasgow.  Sarah Driscoll was Dundee’ top scorer as they traded points and the score was level at 13/13.  A series of errors from GI kept Dundee close but two long rallies went in the home sides favour and they sneaked the set 25/22.  Karolina Rutt was making her debut for the Dundee side and was involved in the early exchanges in the second set.  Hannah Lawrie scored two points from her service, Rutt hit 3 winners and Sarah Driscoll helped bring the scores close but the GI left side attack scored points to win the set 25/20.  Dundee’ service then started to cause problems for the home side and mistakes crept into their play.  Driscoll, Lawrie and Carol Lane were all scoring and moved ahead to lead 21/18.  Three errors gave the home side hope of victory but a score from Hannah Lawrie and a service error from GI gave Dundee the set 25/22.

The home side then took control of the fourth set with runs of 2, 4 and 6 points gave them a 13/6 lead.  The tide turned as the visitors’ service limited the GI attack and the lead shrunk to 16/11.  Hits from Driscoll and Lawrie hauled Dundee to 16/16.  Driscoll again and scores from Karolina Rutt pulled Dundee 22/23 but 2 errors gave the set to Glasgow 25/23 and the match 3/1.
