Published by admin on

Dundee’s Ladies team suffered their first ‘bump in the road’ when they hosted NUVOC from Edinburgh in their National League One game in Craigie High School. The home side stormed into an early lead with scores from Hannah Lawrie and Sarah Driscoll. They each scored 3 points and Natalia Stopowska weighed in with 2 more, for an 11/7 lead. Dundee kept their noses in front with hits from Nicole McKenzie from the left side of the court to lead 21/14. Two service errors and a counter-attack opened the door for NUVOC as the score moved to 23/18 for Dundee. Another service mistake proved very costly as the visitors won the next 6 points to steal the set 25/23.

The early part of the second set was littered with mistakes with Dundee benefitting by 4 from NUVOC but giving up 5, with the score only at 8/6 for Dundee. Natalia Stopowska and Nicole McKenzie helped take the score to 14/15. Another disastrous run of points then turned the set in the visitor’s favour. Heavy serves again, and 3 counter-attack points, gave the set to NUVOC 25/15.

Both sides improved in the third set. Dundee scored hits from Driscoll, McKenzie and Hannah Lawrie, while NUVOC scored points from service and counter-attacks bringing the score to 13/14. Yet again, a run of points changed the game for the visitors. Six points for NUVOC moved them to 20/13 and they finished off the set 25/16. NUVOC won the match, giving Dundee’s their first defeat in the League.
