Third Round Win Secures a trip to Ragazzi! Ouch!

Both Dundee sides had a break from league duty as Scottish Cup, 3rd round ties dominated the fixture lists.  Dundee’s men hosted NUVOC ll and despite having a reduced player pool due to injuries, manufactured the correct result for them to progress to the 4th round.  The NUVOC side took an early 8/5 lead as the home side struggled to find any rhythm.  A series of 6 errors gave the NUVOC side hope but a run of 6 points with scoring hits from Mike Coward and a score block from Rad Marinov and Mark Donnachie gave Dundee the lead.  Lewis Crockart helped push the score along and the home side took the set 25/18.

The second set was littered with mistakes as both sides worked hard to establish control.  Oz Dowie linked well with stand-in setter, Mark Donnachie, as Dundee pulled ahead at 11/8.  Rad Marinov stepped up to the service line and Dundee raced ahead to 18/8 and then finished off the set 25/9 with several points in counter-attack and net blocks as the NUVOC side failed to beat the home defence.

Dundee continues to dominate the net as the Edinburgh side were unable to land the ball in the home court.  Dundee had a 17/9 lead and despite a wobble when they surrendered 4 points, they held on to secure the win, taking the set 25/19 to set up an away tie against Premier side, City of Glasgow Ragazzi.
